COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TWO KALMAN-BASED ESTIMATORS FOR A SIMPLE ANAEROBIC DIGESTION MODEL
Abstract
The paper deals with the state estimation of anaerobic digestion (AD) processes. To control these very complex processes, sophisticated algorithms have been developed, using some unmeasurable variables that must be estimated. Hereby two estimation approaches using only measurements of the biogas flow rate (an EKF-like deterministic estimator and a classical Kalman filter) for the main variables of a simple nonlinear AD model have been compared according to their robustness to model parameter perturbations. Some observations concerning the stability of the model and estimators have been presented.
