An 8-day-old girl of indigenous origin delivered by caesarean section to an HIV-negative mother with an uneventful pregnancy presented to the Complexe Pédiatrique in Bangui, Central African Republic, in March 2011 with a 3-day history of fever at 38.5 °C.
